Africa Farming Industries, the venture behind Sheba Berry, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Ethiopia's Industrial Parks Development Corporation (IPDC) to produce and export premium strawberries and saffron from the Bole Lemi Special Economic Zone in Addis Ababa.
The agreement, signed in March 2025, commits an initial investment of around two million dollars to establish advanced growing facilities on 5,000 square metres of land, with a 3,000 square metre production shed as the first phase of the build.
The farm pairs AI-driven precision growing with climate-controlled hydroponics: a sealed, tuned environment where every input is measured and nothing is left to the weather. The result is consistent, pesticide-free fruit, harvested year-round rather than by season.
The partnership is also a milestone for Ethiopian agriculture. Alongside the country's celebrated traditional crops, high-value fresh produce grown to international standards opens a new export chapter, serving premium catering, aviation and hospitality across the GCC and Africa.
Construction is now in progress. Follow the build, or talk to us about what the first harvests could mean for your tables.
